Discovering My Top 5 Strengths: What Are Yours?

Discovering My Top 5 Strengths: What Are Yours?

Have you ever wondered why you think, work, and connect with people the way you do? I certainly have. That’s why I took the CliftonStrengths assessment—and the results were eye-opening.

I discovered my Top 5 Strengths: Futuristic, Focus, Relator, Arranger, and Responsibility. These aren’t just personality traits. They explain so much about what motivates me, how I show up in relationships, and how I approach leadership and coaching.

Let me glimpse what each of these strengths looks like in my life.

  1. Futuristic
I’m always peering over the horizon. The future fascinates me, and I love to dream about what’s possible. When the present feels frustrating or when others seem too focused on the now, I find energy and excitement by reminding myself where we’re headed. That vision of tomorrow fuels everything I do today.

  2. Focus
"Where am I headed?" is a question I ask myself daily. I’m constantly evaluating whether my actions are moving me closer to my goals. Without clear direction, I quickly feel adrift. So, I set yearly, monthly, and even weekly goals that act as my compass, helping me prioritize, stay on course, and make adjustments when needed.

  3. Relator
I thrive in the company of close friends and family. I’m drawn to genuine, intimate connections. After the initial introductions, I’m intentional about deepening those relationships. I want to know what drives others—their dreams, fears, and goals. I know this kind of closeness carries a risk, but I’m willing to take it. For me, relationships only have value if they’re authentic.

  4. Arranger
I often picture myself as a conductor in an orchestra. When faced with a complex situation involving multiple factors, I enjoy managing all the moving parts, constantly aligning and realigning them until I’ve created the most productive and efficient outcome.

  5. Responsibility
I take ownership of everything I commit to, whether it’s a small task or a significant project. I feel an emotional obligation to see things through to completion. While this can be a great strength, I also recognize that I sometimes take on more than I should, simply because I’m driven by this deep sense of responsibility.

Why This Matters for You

Discovering my strengths gave me language for things I’ve always known about myself—but didn’t always know how to explain. More importantly, it gave me confidence to lead, coach, and connect in ways that feel natural instead of forced.

And here’s the best part: you have a unique set of strengths, too. Once you discover them, you’ll start seeing patterns in how you lead, make decisions, build relationships, and even recharge.
